Today we managed one of our first sleep ins! It was great.
Headed out after breakfast to see what we had been missing out on and wow!
To get to the gorge at Manning you first need to take a boat
connected by rope over a small river/gorge – it was so much fun and a smart
idea so if you don’t want to swim you don’t have to!
Then you have a large and semi difficult walk that takes
about 45 minutes, just gets you working hard enough that you are looking
forward to a swim when you arrive!
A steep decent down at the end and then you come to a large
waterfall and with a lovely clear gorge – it was clearer than Bell gorge but we
aren’t sure if that is because it was deeper or what.
We both had a swim, and once again it was freezing – however
Manning Gorge gets afternoon sunlight so it was a bit warmer and much nicer as
you can sunbake on the rocks around the gorge – really nice :)
There were enough
ledges and things around the waterfall that you could jump off, many people
were, it was great to watch.
When we arrived back to camp, we saw another Challenge
Camper Trailer drive in – we haven’t seen another one since we left – I was
excited and so we decided to go and have a chat to them and see what they
thought – unfortunately they only hired theirs and they hadn’t used it many
times before tonight so they couldn’t tell us much – however they did say that
they were told to fold the doors up over the camper when packing up – something
we weren’t ever shown or knew to do – we have since been doing that and it
seems to have stopped the rubbing on the doors – so hopefully – no more holes!!
Cooking dinner that night and we realised that with all the
corrugations of the recent times, the pot rivits that were holding the fire
extinguisher in to the side wall of the kitchen had broken off – just another
thing to fix when we get home!
Off to Ellenbrae tomorrow, so we will see what it brings!
