Day 5 – Lake Argyle – 13/7/18

Woke up early, mainly because of time change, 6am is 8.30am at home so we were awake with the sun.

Headed off to reception at 9am to watch the video before boarding the bus to the cruise. The bus trip took us to the boat ramp and we got our first proper view of the Lake. Boarded the boat and hit the water at 10.30am with amazing stories and facts of the Lake and the Ord River but able to view the interesting spots along the way like Dam Wall, Jump Rock (18m high), Crocodile Cove (Saw 2 Crocs), The Lake Heads (Deepest Part of the Lake 40m), We also visited the largest Island which is the habitat of the Rock Wallaby and the Orb Spider. We spent some time floating on the Lake whilst they cooked the fish for lunch and then enjoyed a swim, rest and lunch on the island before heading off again back to the boat ramp where the bus was waiting for us. Lunch was delicious with tons of fish, cold meats, salads, beer wine and soft drink, coffee and tea all available. Once back on the bus we were taken for a drive over the Dam Wall and down to the Ord River and to the hydroelectric plant to have a look and then back to the campground.

Such an incredible experience and a fantastic day out enjoyed by all of us. Spent the evening in the beer garden enjoying the atmosphere.

Tomorrow we head off to El Questro which we have been advised has the deepest water crossings in the Kimberley at the moment but excited to be able to have a few more days of just relaxation and a look around.

Tally of damage so far: 1x Flat Tyre, 2x Reflectors gone off Camper Trailer, 2x Flat Batteries, 1 in each car, 1x Freezer died, 1x rock dent to intercooler guard.

All tracking well and good spirits - onwards to El Questro we go, next update on blog will be Broome as no reception now until we get there, we will be about 14 days but will update nightly via sat phone tweets to let you all know what we are up to.
